This media blockade is not merely a routine measure; it is a strategic decision aimed at absolute control over the narrative, obscuring images that may not align with the official version. In the absence of an independent international press, the testimonies of local residents and a limited number of Palestinian journalists become almost the sole source, placing an enormous burden on them amidst extremely dangerous conditions. The absence of foreign press deprives the world of direct and reliable footage, widely opens the door to rumors and misinformation, and significantly reduces opportunities for accountability and documentation of violations, making the Gaza Strip seem like a black box, from which only fragmented voices emerge, while the complete picture remains unseen.
Internal Tightening: Curbing Hebrew Media
These policies have not been limited to the international arena but have extended to internal media within Israel, in a move that raises increasing concerns about the future of democracy and freedom of expression. Under various pretexts, the government is moving to tighten its grip on long-standing Hebrew media institutions, such as "Army Radio" and the "Public Broadcasting Corporation." This transforms the media landscape into a one-way megaphone, depriving Israeli citizens themselves of the intellectual diversity and freedom of criticism that are essential safeguards for any democratic society.

When there are no documented images, independent testimonies, or neutral media archives, it becomes easy to obscure facts, distort realities, and justify actions. This policy creates an enormous void in collective consciousness, not only for citizens but for historians, researchers, and future generations, who will find themselves facing a one-sided narrative, lacking any independent reference or visual evidence. It is an attempt to erase a part of history, to render it invisible, and to make it impossible to remember or hold accountable. How can the international community build a true understanding of the conflict and demand justice when the scene is absent and the camera is silenced?
